چکیده

A computer simulation was performed to investigate the optimum combinations of threeand four-chromatic inks in order to maximize the color gamut for halftone printing. A virtual printing model was created based on the YuleNielsen-spectral-Neugebauer equations and Kubelka-Munk turbid media theory and was used to predict the spectral reflectances and colorimetric coordinates of prints. In this manner, the spectral properties of a printer’s entire color gamut were predicted from the spectral properties of ink and paper. A new method was developed to derive plausible ink spectral properties based on two Gaussian functions. The results showed that the optimum three-chromatic inks, as expected, were cyan, magenta and yellow. For four chromatic inks, several optimal results were found.

Spectral Gamut Characteristics based on Number of Primaries and Their Characteristics

In applications that require spectral color information, such as fine art printing field, industry has been able to improve reproduction quality substantially in the past decade by increasing the printer gamut space and improving other print quality attributes such as metamerism. As the number of inks used in the printer is increasing and researchers are able to understand the ink and media int...

Spectral Gamut Mapping and Gamut Concavity

A spectral gamut-mapping algorithm is introduced that works well for printers with a large number of inks. It finds the best mapping onto the convex hull of the printer spectral gamut while preserving color defined in CIE XYZ as much as possible. The technique employs a non-negative least-square fit. Since the gamut-mapping algorithm depends on the common assumption that the gamut is convex, an...

Geodesic Based Ink Separation for Spectral Printing

An ink separation algorithm is introduced for printing with 6 to 9 inks. A spectral gamut mapping algorithm is also introduced that projects an input reflectance onto the manifold of the printer spectral gamut space The ink separation, which is finding the best ink combination to reproduce a given reflectance, is done by applying an interpolation between printer gamut points neighboring a proje...

Gamut expanded halftone prints

We propose a framework for printing high chroma and bright colors which are beyond both the display sRGB and the classical cmyk print gamuts. These colors are printed with a combination of classical cmyk inks and the two additional daylight fluorescent magenta and yellow inks. The goal is to enhance image parts by printing them with high chroma and bright colors. We first select the image parts...

Improving the Color Constancy of Prints by Ink Design

A computer simulation was performed to investigate optimal fourand five-ink sets in order to minimize color inconstancy while maintaining a large color gamut. The effect of including a spectrally-flat black ink on color constancy was explored. The relationship between ink shape and the color constancy of prints was also analyzed. The results show that the ink shape in the middle wavelength regi...
